Program
The Program in International and Comparative Business Law is a semester program designed for students from our some 90 partner institutions in 31 countries. It takes place each fall from September to December. Courses are held in English, but students are also welcome to sit in on regular classes taught to Bucerius students if their knowledge of German allows.
The program is primarily intended for law students wishing to broaden and extend their understanding of the forces shaping international business law. Students gain insight into the day-to-day practice of the field from experienced professionals and professors. The program offers the unique opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge of German, European and international law, covering topics such as corporate governance, international banking transactions, comparative contract law, etc.
Academic studies are balanced by a well-rounded extracurricular program, including museum visits, day excursions, special receptions and more. During the week-long break in the middle of the semester, the International Office offers an optional 5-day study trip to Berlin and Potsdam. Students may also opt to enroll in a German language course.
Bucerius Law School has adopted the National Code of Conduct on Foreign Students at German Universities and is proud to grant international students the same rights as are available to German or EU students and above all, to offer them the particular services and assistance they need as international guests.
Who is eigible to apply?
The program is open exclusively for students from our partner universities. To check if your university has a cooperation agreement with Bucerius, please see the list of our partner faculties.
In countries (such as the United States) where law is studied at a graduate level, applicants must have completed at least one year of studies at a law school at the time the program begins. In countries (such as Germany) where law is studied at the undergraduate level, applicants must have completed at least two years of their legal education.
Each year Bucerius Law School welcomes some 100 students to the Exchange Program. In the last two years, the number of applications has risen considerably, with far more applications than spaces available. Therefore, applicants are carefully selected on the basis of their application materials and priority is given to those with a focus on business law. The application process for the fall 2012 is open.
The application deadline is April 15, 2012. Further information how to apply can be found here: International Exchange Program Application...
