Day Care Center

No campus without a day care center – this is also true for Bucerius Law School. Based on the Reggio philosophy, the day care center’s educational concepts cover scientific, artistic-aesthetic and linguistic education. The children receive bilingual care (English and German) – even for the youngest child. Music and movement are also included in the philosophy of the all-day care center. “Discovering language, art, nature and technology early“ is the center’s maxim. The goal is to arouse the varied talents of the children across the developmental board.

The day care center at Bucerius Law School is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It has places for 25 children ranging from six months to six years. The day care center is open to students and staff of the Law School, the staff of the ZEIT-Stiftung and the Bucerius Kunst Forum as well as children in the neighborhood of Bucerius Law School. Due to the overwhelming interest in the day care, there is a waiting list.

Professor Dr. h.c. Loki Schmidt is the patroness of the day care center.

From the beginning, the children are introduced to

• natural phenomenon
• logical correlations
• musical and creative experiences
• the meaning of language

• the educational concept
• the high ratio of caretakers to children
• educational offerings (concentrating on scientific and artistic-aesthetic education)
• bilingual language, music and exercise
• all-day care, flexible times and babysitter exchange
• concept for the use of rooms and fittings (250 square meters total area: toddler area with platform scenery and “Learning Studio,” science and discovery studio, artistic-creative atelier, mini-atelier (three-year-old and under), bathroom with a pool, children’s bistro)
• location: 120 square meters exterior grounds, located directly across from Planten un Blomen (The Botanical Greenhouses), two public playgrounds in the immediate vicinity, organic foods inclusive
