Visiting Students

The application period for 2010 is closed. The new application period will begin in January 2011.

A limited number of spots for visiting students is available every fall semester. Students who do not attend one of our partner universities, but are enrolled at a university outside of Germany, can apply for such a status. Applicants will only be admitted if they are in excellent academic standing at their home university. In countries (such as the United States) where law is studied at a graduate level, applicants must have completed at least one year of study at a law school at the time the program begins. In countries (such as the UK) where law is studied at a university level, applicants must have completed at least two years of their legal education.

Visiting students participate in the "Program in International and Comparative Business Law", which is principally offered to exchange students from our partner universities. This specially designed program of studies takes place each fall from September to December and is taught in English by Bucerius professors, distinguished guest professors and practitioners from all over the world. Up to 16 law courses are offered and students earn ABA/ECTS credits for successful participation in the program. However, students should consult their home university as to whether credits earned at Bucerius will be recognized towards their degree.

The academic program is complemented by interesting extracurricular activities and German language courses for the participants to take part in. In addition, the International Office assists visiting students with administrative issues like visa, housing, insurances, etc.

A completed application consists of:

  1. A completed application form, available for download here...
  2. A letter of good academic standing from home university,
