MLB students at Law Without Walls KickOff in Madrid

Master students join professors and students from leading international law and business schools to examine innovative solutions for the legal marketplace.

On January 16 and 17, 2016, six Master of Law and Business students as well as professors and students from leading international law and business schools met at the Law Without Walls “KickOff” Session at IE University in Madrid to examine innovative solutions facing the legal marketplace.

Nearly two hundred students and professors from thirty of the world’s top international law schools including Bucerius Law School, Harvard Law School, UCL Laws, Stanford Law School, Fordham Law School, New York Law School, Peking University (STL), the University of St Gallen and the University of Sydney, met in Madrid to propose cutting-edge solutions to issues faced by lawyers and law programs as well as to assess the future of the legal practice in an international and diverse environment. Legal experts from law firms and companies like Eversheds, My Motion Calendar, American Express, Barclays or Microsoft joined them.

The “KickOff” in Madrid was an opportunity to get to know the teams and the mentors, and to engage with professionals and entrepreneurs from the fields of law and business to create an invaluable global network. The event was the first part of a four-month program in which students engage with leading practitioners and mentors from across the globe through weekly virtual mentoring sessions to create a project of worth that proposes a solution to a real-life problem regarding the legal marketplace. This experience will end with the so-called “ConPosium” where the students will present their projects of worth in front of a panel consisting of venture capitalists and multidisciplinary judges. Results will be judged on the basis of the creativity, viability and substance of the projects. The “ConPosium” will be held in Coral Gables, Florida on April 16 and 17.

Bucerius Law School is represented by Master of Law and Business students Klaus Heinisch, Aleksandar Jakovljevic, Burcu Kasap, Sanchali Pandey, Bar Sandarovich and Andrea Uleri who were selected to participate in the Law Without Walls elective within the Master of Law and Business program.

Law Without Walls is an award-winning course run each year by the University of Miami School of Law.
