Florian Faust holds the Chair of Civil Law, German, European and International Commercial and Business Law and Comparative Law. He was born in 1964 in Regensburg and studied law at the Universities of Regensburg and Geneva. In 1987 he was accepted by the German National Merit Foundation. After the First State Examination in 1989 he participated in the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) Master of Laws Program 1990 to 1991. From 1989 he worked as a research fellow in the Chair for Civil Law, Legal Sociology and Commercial, Business and Employment Law at the University of Regensburg (Prof. Dr. Koller), following the Second State Examination in 1993.
In 1996 Dr. Faust received a doctorate on the topic "The Forseeability of Harm pursuant to Article 74 (2) United Nations Sales Law (CISG)". In 2001 he gained a post-doctorate on the topic "Deception by Incorrect Pre-contractual Information; Prevention and Compensation in Civil and Business Law". Following a period of teaching at the University of Cologne, he was called to Bucerius Law School on December 1, 2002. Florian Faust's research interests concern Contract Law ("The Modernization of the Law of Obligations; Introduction to New Law", together with Peter Huber), Commercial and Competition Law and in the Economic Analysis of Law.
