Bucerius Summer Programs 2015
The Bucerius campus was proud to welcome two new guest lecturers for the Program in International Business Law: Dr. Maxi Scherer, Special Counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and Senior Lecturer in International Arbitration and Energy at Queen Mary University of London, led a course on International Commercial Arbitration, an area of law becoming increasingly more specialized. Professor Dr. Peter Huber, Chair for Private Law, Conflict of Laws and Comparative Law at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, led a course on International Commercial Sales that dealt with central elements of the CISG in view of case law from several jurisdictions.
The International Business Law program has taken place each summer since 2008.
Held in cooperation with UC Hastings College of the Law, the International Intellectual Property Transactions program took place for the second time this summer and included site workshops to the Hamburg office of Google Germany, the company’s largest facility in the country, and to the Airbus Operations site located across the Elbe in Finkenwerder.
“I have met people at Bucerius who I expect will become professional connections, but more importantly will remain social connections and who I expect I will arrange to visit whenever I get chance to travel to their part of the world,” said Martin Dickson, a recent University of Oxford graduate and participant in the IP program, in reflecting on the experience. “As this course has taught me, with the international application of the law I expect I may get a number of opportunities to do so.”
