Biography
On May 1, 2021, Felix Hanschmann took over the newly established chair Critique of Law – Foundations and Practice of the Democratic Rule of Law, funded by the Dieter Hubertus Pawlik Foundation.
He was born 1973 in Darmstadt and studied Law in Frankfurt am Main and Sociology in Darmstadt. First State Exam (2000) and Second State Exam (2007) in Frankfurt am Main, 2004-2005 Visiting Research Scholar at Harvard Law School's Institute for Global Law and Policy and Research Assistant for Professor David Kennedy (Manley O. Hudson Professor of Law at Harvard Law School), 2004 PhD, 2000-2004 Research Associate for Günter Frankenberg, 2001 for Regina Ogorek and 2001-2002 at the Wilhelm Merton Center for European Integration and International Economic Order at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, 2005-2006 and 2008-2009 Researcher and lecturer at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, 2007-2008 and 2009-2010 Research Associate at the Federal Constitutional Court for Judge Brun-Otto Bryde, 2012-2018 Academic Council at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. 2016 Habilitation, Venia Legendi for Public Law, International Law and Legal Theory. Visiting Professor at the Universities in Gießen, Freiburg and Leipzig. From 2017-2021 Felix Hanschmann represented the Chair of Public Law and Jurisprudence at the Humboldt University zu Berlin.
Since 2021 he is tutor of the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes), tutor for the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, member of the foundation board of the Sebastian Cobler Foundation for Civil Rights and co-editor of the legal journal "Kritische Justiz".
