Research focus

Research at the chair and the Institute for Corporate and Capital Markets Law focuses on private law (especially general contract law and damages), corporate law (including its connections to insolvency law), regulation of capital markets (especially equity capital markets) and legal theory. Main general areas of interest are corporate finance (including venture capital), private ordering and fiduciary law.

The research is based on a fundamentals-oriented approach, analyzing law in its historical, interdisciplinary and international contexts. This includes a comparative perspective with an emphasis on the US and England, economic analysis of the law, philosophy of language, economic history and political economy
