Career Office

Your gateway into our network

The Master of Law and Business has its own Career Advisor who can support you in your search for an internship placement and advise and guide you regarding the next step of your career.

Finding the perfect internship

One of the unique aspects of the Bucerius Master of Law and Business is the mandatory 8-week internship that can take place in a law firm, corporation or organization in Germany or abroad. The Career Office will help you find and plan your internship.

The internship is a valuable period that provides you with the opportunity to apply the knowledge you have gained in the first six months of the program in a work environment. It's also a great chance to broaden your professional network and to find topics for your Master's thesis that are of interest to you and to potential employers.

The responsibility for finding an internship rests with you, and it is the internship providers (not Bucerius Law School) who determine whether they want to make you an offer. However, our Career Advisor is there to offer advice and support and provide you with the best tools possible in order to secure an internship placement.

Specifically, our Career Advisor will:

  • meet individually with you to explore your ambitions and career opportunities
  • assist you with the application process for an internship
  • create a CV book of the class, which will be distributed among potential employers
  • coordinate speculative applications
  • organize company presentations on campus
  • organize a mock interview training with a professional headhunter
  • organize a trip to Berlin to explore the Berlin start-up scene
  • arrange for professional application photos to be taken

Finding a job after graduation

The Bucerius staff can advise you on the possibility of staying in Germany after graduation. They can, for example, help you with your application documents and offer advice regarding visa extensions, as it is possible for graduates to extend their residence permit for the purpose of finding a job in Germany.

Berlin Study Trip

Every year in October or November, the MLB Team organizes a study trip to Berlin. During this non-mandatory trip, the Master of Law and Business students get to know the German start-up scene. They visit start-up and venture capital companies and have valuable networking opportunities that can help them find an internship.
