Travelling to Germany

Depending on your nationality you may need a visa to enter Germany. Contact the German embassy or consulate in your home country for the most up-to-date information.

Who needs an entry visa?

Some nationalities require a visa for the duration of the summer program, for which you need to apply before travelling to Germany. Bucerius Law School will provide proof of admission required by the German authorities. To check whether you need a visa, please visit the website of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

In order to find out how to apply for the visa, please contact the German mission in your home country to determine whether you need to apply for an entrance visa. Please note that, during the peak travel season, the process for obtaining an entry visa may take several weeks. You must, therefore, make sure to submit your application on time.

There are no visa requirements for citizens from EU member countries, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States. Participants from these countries can enter Germany and take part in the program on a tourist visa.
