The talk is part of a series on "Strategic Litigation in International Law and International Relations" organized by Prof. Mehrdad Payandeh in cooperation with Prof. Holger Hestermeyer (King's College London).

In this talk, we will examine the role that (strategic) litigation has played in the context of Brexit. Our first speaker will be Jolyon Maugham, QC, who played a key role in bringing a number of cases that helped clarify the law surrounding Brexit including the Wightman case before the ECJ. Our second speaker will be Professor Friedemann Kainer from the University of Mannheim who has published widely on Brexit.

Jolyon Maugham, QC, is the founder and director of the Good Law Project. He played a key role in bringing a number of cases that helped clarify the law surrounding Brexit including
the Wightman case before the ECJ.

Prof. Friedemann Kainer is the chair of civil law, German and European Business and Labour Law at the University of Mannheim. In 2019 he published a book about trade post Brexit.
