A Homecoming to Remember: Bucerius International Alumni Reunion 2025

Alumni from across the globe reunited in Hamburg for a weekend of memories, connection, and celebration.

Education & Study |

The campus buzzed on September 20 and 21 as around 150 alumni from across the world returned to Hamburg for the International Alumni Reunion. From Mexico to Australia, graduates of the Exchange, Summer, and Master of Law and Business programs traveled great distances to revisit the place that they once called home for a time.

Reflecting on Achievements and Looking Ahead

The weekend began on campus with a warm welcome from CEO Meinhard Weizmann, Professor Axel Kämmerer, Vice President for Internationalization and Global Perspectives and Professor Christopher Bisping, Dean of the MLB Program, who shared updates on the university’s recent milestones and exciting plans for the future. Their remarks highlighted the school’s continued commitment to innovation in legal education.

The alumni were also invited to a though-provoking keynote speech by German alumna Baro Vincenta Ra Gabbert, who is the spokesperson for socio-economic justice at Greenpeace in Hamburg.

Rediscovering Hamburg

Afterwards, the alumni had a choice of five themed walking tours, ranging from learning about Hamburg’s musical history, and sites of Nazi persecution to exploring the Karolinenviertel, Gängeviertel and Neustadt neighborhoods.

These tours not only brought back memories of days spent discovering the city but also offered the alumni a chance to see how Hamburg has evolved since they were students here.

A Campus Full of Life

Back on campus, the atmosphere was one of joyful reunion and genuine connection. Old friends reunited after years apart, new connections were made across years, classes and continents, and conversations flowed over drinks and tasty food provided by a variety of food trucks on campus.

With unseasonably beautiful weather and a joyful atmosphere, the campus once again became a hub of international exchange and shared memories.

Looking Back — and Ahead

The next morning began with the offer of a gentle yoga session to stretch out after the long and eventful previous day.

The reunion concluded with a farewell brunch, where alumni shared final hugs, exchanged contact details, and promised to meet again soon. Between laughter and heartfelt goodbyes, the sense that Bucerius is more than a place of study was palpable -it’s a lifelong community. With alumni working and thriving in all corners of the world, the weekend was a celebration not only of shared history but also of a shared future.

To all who joined us: thank you for bringing your energy, warmth, and stories back to campus. The weekend was a powerful reminder of what makes the Bucerius international community so unique — a spirit of curiosity, friendship, and connection that spans borders and generations. Remember, you will always have a home at Bucerius. Auf Wiedersehen and see you all again soon.
