This year’s Luther Lecture – taking place on 23 March 2026 – will examine the relationship between international arbitration and human rights in a rules-based international order. Sir Tim Eicke KCMG KC LLD (h.c.), Judge at the European Court of Human Rights, will explore whether these two regimes act as allies or are increasingly in conflict amid growing attacks on both. Drawing on his experience as an international judge and advocate, he will discuss how current challenges to the international rule of law affect the role of arbitration and human rights in constraining state power.
