Barbara E. Weißenberger has held the Chair of Management Accounting and Control at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf since 2014. She is also an Affiliate Professor at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. In 2023, she received the ACA (former Dr. Kausch) Award from the University of St. Gallen in recognition of her research on the integration of financial and managerial control. She serves on the Executive Board of the Schmalenbach Society for Business Research, one of Germany's leading academic associations in business administration.

Her research examines how management accounting and control systems can support organizational performance in an increasingly complex business environment. Bringing together insights from accounting, behavioral science, digital transformation and sustainability control, her work explores how organizations can align financial performance with sustainability as well as responsible behavior in the age of artificial intelligence.

Barbara E. Weißenberger has published extensively in peer-reviewed academic journals and is actively engaged with both scholarship and practice. She serves on supervisory and advisory boards, is an Editor of Der Betrieb - Germany's leading journal on business law and taxation - and a regular contributor to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Across these roles, her work reflects a consistent interest in how management knowledge supports better decisions, strengthens organizational performance, and contributes to addressing the grand challenges facing businesses in a transforming society.
