The Setting for Your Event
Immense and highly customizable
A freestanding structure, the incredibly spacious Helmut Schmidt Auditorium was constructed in 2003 as a modern interpretation of a garden tempietto—recognizing that the Law School was established on grounds that had served previously as a botanical institute. Both the historically preserved central campus building and tropical greenhouse of the city's botanical garden are reflected in the glass façade of the auditorium. Bright windows on the structure's upper level connect the lecture hall to its green surroundings with a glimpse into Planten un Blomen, the expansive midtown park and old city ramparts immediately adjacent—and with direct access—to campus. The terraced courtyard between the central building and auditorium is an oasis of tranquility adored by students and guests alike—the perfect spot to break up the day with fresh air, good conversation and an unbeatable view.
Classic elegance over two levels
Located on the upper floor of the historic central building, the Moot Court occupies the majority of the domed structure connecting the east and south wings. A glass cupola and arched windows illuminate the space and a gallery balustrade provides guests with a view from above of presentations and discussion.
Tradition meets high tech
A modern interpretation of neoclassical style, this lecture hall bears the name of the foundation whose generosity provided its original furnishings. Spanning the width of the building, windows along both exterior walls bathe the space in light and offer a generous cross breeze. Integrated video-capture and projection technology, private booths for support staff and interpreters, and embedded electrical and audio ports in each row of seats enable this lecture hall to be utilized for a range of digital functions and multilingual events, e.g., a live-streamed international congress with simultaneous translation.
Geometric diversity
This ovoid presentation space is temperature-controlled and located on the ground floor of the Deutsche Bank Hall. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the foyer leading to the Linklaters Lecture Room offer an airy space for receiving your guests—which doubles as a convenient area for serving refreshments. Need to host breakout sessions or a private dining experience? The adjacent Freshfields Lounge with its fireplace and cozy ambient may be rented in tandem.
Multifaceted and adaptable
With the ability to accommodate between 10 and 50 individuals, our seminar rooms are available in a range of sizes and layouts, each offering the latest in presentation technology. Dimmable overhead lighting complements rich natural light. Seating layouts and furnishings are fully customizable.
Cheery and bright
Spanning the width of the historic central building's upper level and extending outdoors with its two grand balconies, the spacious South Lounge offers a magnificent view over the Law School campus. Two rows of windows fill the room with sunlight and invite guests to continue their conversations on the patio.
Inviting and open
Simple and uncluttered, this rounded space on the ground floor of the historic central building serves as the primary reception area for the Law School—and with good reason: with its lofty ceiling and extensive use of glass, the rotunda is the ideal spot for welcoming guests to campus or hosting a cozy exhibition. A space immediately adjacent can be used as a convenient coat-check and registration area.
