The first Hamburg alumni meet-up of 2015 was held on the afternoon of January 25 at the German Center for Cultural Exchange of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). The event marked the start of both a new year and cooperation in the East with the educational arm of the Hamburg Liaison Office (HLO) Shanghai having extended its profile to include representation of Bucerius Law School.
Professor ZHOU Weidong, Director of the Center, welcomed the approximately 30 guests in attendance. SU Jing, Project Manager for Education, Trainings and Cultural Projects of the Liaison Office, outlined the mission of the HLO and provided updates about joint ventures of the cities, including Hamburg Summit and China Time.
The HLO Shanghai was opened in 1986, the year that Shanghai and Hamburg became sister cities, and represents the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City, local Chamber of Commerce, Tourist Board and Business Development Corporation. The HLO will support Bucerius at educational fairs, reinforce Sino-German exchange and research collaboration, assist in the organization of local seminars and workshops and act as an intermediary in maintaining relations with international alumni in China. By providing a direct link to Hamburg in combination with local networking opportunities, the HLO endeavors to support Bucerius alumni in their continuing legal education and professional undertakings.
