On August 29, Bucerius Law School celebrated the 11th Graduation Ceremony of the Master of Law and Business (MLB). This year’s graduation was undoubtedly highly visible on campus: Majestic flags lined the path from the main building to the auditorium, flambeaux framed the lawn and servers swirled around white umbrellas and food stalls. Around 300 guests, among them family, friends, diplomats, internship supervisors and faculty members, enjoyed the get-together with drinks and finger food, while listening to speeches of Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Katharina Boele-Wolki, Dean of Bucerius Law School, and alumni representative Lena Färber.
Afterwards, Benedikt Landgrebe, Deputy CEO of Bucerius Law School, opened the festive ceremony in the Helmut Schmidt Auditorium. Anita Scheller, MLB Class of 2010, was this year’s keynote speaker. She held a very personal speech about how the program has changed her life and helped her to become the person that she is today – a young, successful and self-confident business woman running a family-owned business in Bavaria. The interlude was given by Marc Andrés Ledesma (guitar and vocals) and Visnja Mrdovic (vocals), who sang Green Day’s song “Time of your life” – a title that could not fit better to this extraordinary year the students had. Following the musical performance, the crowd cheered the 44 students from 27 countries receiving their certificates in caps and gowns. The DAAD Prize 2017 for outstanding academic performance and social engagement was awarded to Trinidad Alonso from Spain. The Best Teacher Awards went to Professor Dr. Stefan Kröll (Arbitration) and Professor Dr. Martin Högl (Managerial Leadership).
A video tribute to the parting students and the ceremonial enrolment of the Class of 2018 brought this wonderful evening to a close. 32 students from 23 countries were looking forward to starting the Master of Law and Business.
