Hundreds of Christmas cookies for a good cause

Baking event with our LL.B. and international students

Christmas is not a season. It is a feeling – This proverb perfectly matched the atmosphere in the cafeteria last week. Our international exchange students and their German buddies put all their effort into baking and decorating cookies for the residents of a homeless shelter in Hamburg – and thus brought the spirit of advent to campus.

This fall, the extracurricular program for the international exchange students was deliberately focused on active integration – less sightseeing, more hands-on-events with the German students. After the first successful Game Night in the Coffee Lounge, where Internationals and LL.B.s enjoyed playing cards, board games and table soccer, students met again – this time with the motto "Ready, set, bake!". Mugs of mulled wine and seasonal music contributed to a fun and relaxed atmosphere, which resulted in hundreds of decorated cookies that were packaged in individually designed bags and donated to a homeless shelter in town. Afterwards, the Bucerius Alumni Association took the busy "Christmas elves" to one of the Christmas markets close to campus to to let the evening wind down with another warm beverage and tasty Christmas treats.
