In November 2016, Anush Khachatryan '17 and some of her classmates organized a charity art exhibition at the Bucerius Coffee Lounge to raise money for an art school in her home country Armenia. The school is situated in a small, poor city called Masis, where people cannot afford to buy art supplies for their children. 46 little Armenian painters needed materials such as water colours and brushes.
By selling her own artworks and collecting additional donations, Anush was able to raise 1,200 € for her social project „Supporting Little Painters in Armenia”. This amount allowed her to purchase high-quality paint and painting tools as well as several painting boards and painting figures, which will serve current and future pupils.
With the help of her parents and school staff she delivered the little gift packages to the children, who were beaming with joy. As Anush was not able to be present during the delivery, a letter from her addressed to children was read aloud, in which the project was briefly explained. This initiative was the first in the history of the school and had a huge impact on the institution. 46 little painters had one of the happiest days of their lives.
