15 years ago Bucerius Law School celebrated the enrollment of the first MLB class and since that time, the program has grown continuously and adapted its curriculum to changing economic trends. With more than 600 graduates from over 100 countries around the globe, the MLB Program has built a strong alumni network of interdisciplinarily educated and internationally oriented young professionals.

Bucerius Master of Law and Business Graduation 2021
Bucerius Law School celebrates 15 years of the MLB Program, bids farewell to the Master of Law and Business class of 2021 and welcomes the class of 2022

On 31st August the Law School celebrated the graduation of the class of 2021 with a special ceremony in the Helmut Schmidt Auditorium. It was a wonderful celebration of the hard work and achievements of the class after a particularly tumultuous year of in-person, hybrid and online learning.
Despite the pandemic however, some 40 students from 23 countries walked across the stage to receive their diplomas and flip the tassles on their hats from one side to the other signifying that they are now Masters of Law and Business. The graduates passed on some very useful advice to the new MLB Class of 2022 who officially enrolled in the MLB Program in the same ceremony.
The ceremony was also live streamed to the many families and friends worldwide who couldn´t attend the ceremony in person.

MLB welcomes new Dean Professor Christopher Bisping
Mr. Benedikt Landgrebe, Deputy CEO of Bucerius Law School hosted the event which was opened with speeches by Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Katharina Boele-Woelki, Dean of Bucerius Law School and Ruben Rehr, Representative of Bucerius Alumni e.V. This year’s keynote speech was given by Dr. Axel Moeller, MLB graduate of the class of 2008 who also announced his generous scholarship donation to the MLB Program. Professor Clifford Larsen, founding dean of the MLB Program gave an inspiring talk and after 15 years of dedicated work transferred the deanship to his successor Professor Christopher Bisping who joins the Bucerius community after a tenure at the University of Warwick (England).

DAAD PRIZE 2021
The prestigious DAAD Prize 2021 for outstanding academic performance and social engagement was awarded to Ms. Jovana Zec from Serbia. Jovana’s engagement as a member of the Bucerius Vis Moot team was crucial in aiding the team to its very first victory in the renowned civil law moot court competition.

AND THE BEST TEACHER AWARDS GO TO...
This year’s Best Teacher Awards for Law and Business were awarded to Professor Dr. Karsten Thorn for his course Legal Issues of Supply and Distribution and Professor Dr. Christina Günther for her course Social Entrepreneurship.
Following the ceremony, graduates and guests continued the evening celebrations with an outdoor reception.
