The 4th JNR 2025 provides young scientists working in the field of sustainability and law a forum to present their research.
The 4th Young Sustainability Law Conference (JNR 2025) provides a forum for young scholars working on sustainability and law to present their research, impact the discourse, and connect with fellow peers. The Conference presents a diverse and thought-provoking program that explores legal responses to sustainability challenges from comparative, interdisciplinary, and intradisciplinary perspectives.
Across seven thematic sessions, our highly competitively selected speakers will examine topics ranging from global supply chains, consumer law, and corporate governance to environmental criminal law, natural disaster insurance, and clean energy transitions. Keynote lectures by leading scholars will provide deeper insights into emerging debates, while a high-level panel discussion addresses the role of private actors in sustainable development.
The program features early-career researchers from over 15 countries and spans multiple legal traditions and academic approaches. Sessions take place at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, with space for informal exchange during receptions and a social event on the final day.
Organised by CECS, MPI Hamburg and University of Hamburg
