The Bucerius Mediation Competition by BODENHEIMER is an international mediation competition organised by students and research assistants.
Since its inception, the BMC has become one of the leading European competitions in this field, attracting teams from universities around the world each year. During the competition, students simulate complex mediation scenarios drawn from the practice of international commercial relations.
They take on the roles of representatives of the parties and are evaluated by experienced mediation professionals from law firms, companies, and institutions. The goal of the BMC is to promote the art of constructive conflict resolution, communication, and negotiation, giving aspiring lawyers and business experts the opportunity to further develop their practical skills in a realistic environment.
BMC 2025 will take place in a hybrid format: most of the 24 teams will travel to Hamburg, while others will participate digitally. This creates a diverse, international group of participants, fostering intercultural exchange and networking in a unique way. In addition to the competition rounds, the event offers networking opportunities and professional discussions with mediators, lawyers, and business representatives.
The Bucerius Mediation Competition is supported by the international law firm BODENHEIMER, the Center for International Dispute Resolution, Bauckmann & Partner and the International Mediation Campus.
