1.15 Taylor Wessing Lecture Room

Prof. Dr. Morten Kinander (BI Norwegian Business School) & Dr. Norbert Kuhn (DAI) in discussion with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jörn Axel Kämmerer (IUKR)

Capital markets are increasingly expected to deliver more than just returns: they are called upon to secure long-term wealth, finance green and digital transitions, and underwrite intergenerational welfare. While most capital markets in the EU still have untapped potential in this regard, the Scandinavian countries seem to be a step ahead: Sweden’s success, on the one hand, is driven by a broad equity culture, supportive regulation, and accessible growth markets that channel household savings into innovative companies and economic growth. The Norwegian Government Pension Fund, on the other hand, has become not only the world's largest sovereign wealth fund, but also a benchmark for how a state can convert finite natural resources into enduring prosperity.

What lessons do the Norwegian and the Swedish model hold for other jurisdictions, especially Germany – and where do their limits lie? These and related questions will be discussed by Prof. Dr. Morten Kinander (BI Norwegian Business School) and Dr. Norbert Kuhn (Deutsches Aktieninstitut) with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jörn Axel Kämmerer (Bucerius Law School / IUKR).

The discussion will be followed by an opportunity for further exchange over pretzels and wine.
