1.21 Moot Court

AI systems increasingly make consequential decisions – in hiring, lending, content moderation and beyond. Yet the decisions made about these systems remain largely invisible. At every stage of the AI supply chain, from training data curation to system prompts and from architectural trade-offs to output filters, humans make pivotal choices. How these choices are made, by whom and according to which criteria often remains unclear.

The conference brings together computer scientists, STS scholars, philosophers and legal experts to ask: What technical means exist to shape AI system behavior? How is this influence currently exercised? How should it be exercised, and what role should law play?
