New Frontiers in Law and Economics: Political Speech and the Corporation

Corporations may engage in strategic political speech. This speech enables the corporations to differentiate on politics. Firms that differentiate on politics have an incentive to encourage political polarization. This effect is illustrated with a historical example involving the Ford Motor Company and is used to explain an economic rationale.
