The Bucerius Mediation Competition is an international mediation competition, organized every year since 2015 by students and research assistants of Bucerius Law School.

Since its inception, the BMC has developed into one of the leading European competitions in this field, attracting teams from universities around the world each year. This year's event will take place from 20 to 22 November 2026.

During the competition, students simulate complex mediation scenarios drawn from the practice of international commercial relations. They assume the roles of party representatives and are evaluated by experienced mediation professionals from law firms, companies, and institutions.

The goal of the BMC is to promote the art of constructive conflict resolution, communication and negotiation, giving aspiring lawyers and business experts the opportunity to further develop their practical skills in a realistic environment.

BMC 2026 will take place in a hybrid format: most of the 24 teams will travel to Hamburg, while others will participate digitally. This creates a diverse, international group of participants, fostering intercultural exchange and networking in a unique way.

In addition to the competition rounds, the event offers networking opportunities and professional discussions with mediators, lawyers and business representatives.

The Bucerius Mediation Competition is supported by the Center for International Dispute Resolution, Bauckmann & Partner and the International Mediation Campus.
